We are running specifically on the following items:
City Ordinances: (setbacks, building heights, hardcover regulations, outbuildings, and the like) Stronger adherence to the existing ordinances as they stand. Hold public hearings by neighborhood to discuss potential updating of existing ordinances to match today's demands.
Create an image and future direction for Chowen’s corner: Hold public hearings and listen to what people want for our commercial district. Is there an agreeable image for what this area could look like in the future?
Trails, parks, beaches, and amenities: Open discussions to the public on what are the major needs of our children and entertainment. The top priority being safety, access for the abled and disabled, future potential improvements, and possible expansion of the park system.
Study and determine a long-range plan for future large expenditures: Hold hearing with the appropriate people to determine the future infrastructure needs and how those needs would be paid for within the existing tax base. Now major spending projects would be undertaken without a full process of public hearings.
Create a strong and knowledgeable planning commission: With the assistance of the new city planner and city manager, we need that is able to send strong recommendations for the council to follow.
